Thursday September 20, 2007 - Day 1

Bean Planting

Today, Sept. 20, 2007, we planted bean seeds. We put some soil in a cup, and then we put in a bean seed. Next, we put some water on top of the soil, and it went down toward the bean seed. At last, we put the cup with the bean seed inside, in a sunny place.

Monday September 24, 2007 - Day 5

Today, Sept 24, 2007, our bean plants sprouted. The soil was lifted up in some cups by the bean plant. The sprouts looked white and light green. They took about three days to sprout. It happened in a dry, dark room.

Tuesday September 25, 2006 - Day 6

The beans are still bent over, but they are taller. The plants are looking greener, today.

Thursday, September 27, 2007 - Day 8

Look! Some plants have folded leaves. Some leaves are beginning to open. The stems are straight.

Tuesday, October 2, 2007 - Day 13

Look at our bean plants. They have gotten very tall and they have something pointy at the top of their stems. It does not look like leaves. We are still watching 5 cups.

Friday, October 26, 2007 - Day 37

Look at the bean plants on October 26, 2007. Some leaves are still green, but some have turned yellow. The leaves have turned brownish and are crumpled up. Let's look on Monday.

Tuesday, October 30, 2007 - Day 41

Look at the bean plants. Most have turned yellow and brown. The stems shrunk. They are not like straws anymore. For three days they had no water. We put water on all of them. Two plants stayed green, and now, one plant has one bud. We will water them and they have sun. Will the bud blossom?

Look at our bud!

Thursday, Yesvember 8, 2007 - Day 50

(Note: Students in Mrs, Shani's class are studying the words yes & no, which explains the change in the month named above)

The bud is shrinking and it looks dry. It looks a little yellow. We can see two more very tiny buds.
