Quarter 4: Writing to Express Personal Ideas

Poetry

        Students will explore poetry and experiment with poetic language.  We will explore the works of poets and will write shape poems, use personification and metaphors in our writing.  We are lucky to have a published poet, Liz Rees, work with the 4^th grade again this year.  She will come and share her expertise and give us feedback on our poems.  We will have a poetry reading in the Media Center on June 2^nd.  Please look for invitations closer to the date!

Autobiography

        We will also work on our autobiographies.  By the end of the year, students will write a complete autobiography sharing the important events/people in their lives with their readers.
