Mr. James (Terry) Heintze is a former Frederick County Public School student, graduating from Frederick High School in 1993. He then attended Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College) and graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts in history and secondary education. In 2003, he graduated with a Masters of Education in School Administration and Supervision from Bowie State University.
Mr. Heintze’s teaching experience began in 1998, as a middle school teacher at Takoma Park Middle School where he taught 7th and 8th grade social studies and coached soccer and basketball. In 2001, Mr. Heintze moved to North Bethesda Middle School where he continued teaching 7th and 8th grade social studies. In 2004, Mr. Heintze was hired as one of the seventh grade team leaders and the following year became the social studies resource teacher. In 2006, he moved to Rosa Parks Middle School as assistant principal. There he supervised math, science, and social studies departments and gained valuable experience as the school testing coordinator and master scheduler.
In 2010, Mr. Heintze left the middle school and accepted an assistant principal position at Sherwood High School where he supervised English, science, and social studies and served as the master scheduler. As a member of the school improvement team, he was also responsible for overseeing the school goal of increasing eligibility and decreasing suspensions.
Mr. Heintze joined the administrative team at Walter Johnson High School on July 1, 2013. He currently supervises art, computer science, technology education, counseling, science, and security. In addition, he is the grade level administrator for the class of 2020. Mr. Heintze is dedicated to serving students, parents, and teachers through positive relationships and high expectations.
