WJ Sources of Strength

We are now forming WJ’s 2017-2018 Sources of Strength Peer Leader Team. Sources of Strength is a mental health wellness project that aims to create connectedness, resilience, and strength among the student body. The Sources of Strength team is comprised of approximately 50 students in grades 9-12 and a group of dedicated WJ staff who serve in the role of Adult Advisors.

To start the school year, SOS students will participate in a day long “Peer Leader” training scheduled for Friday, Oct. 27th. During this training, students will engage in active learning to encourage open discussion about the very real problems that youth face and about the sources of strength that are often helpful for those problems. After the initial training, WJ’s SOS team will meet periodically to work on school wide projects to spread the mission of SOS and the powerful messages of Hope, Help, and Strength.

Students who may be interested in becoming a Sources of Strength Peer Leader should complete this interest form: https://goo.gl/forms/k9FIAzHYqNdJmq1o2  and plan to attend an information meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 18th during lunch in the student commons. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mr. Heintze in the main office or Ms. Edmunds in the counseling office.
