Task Definition

Art Historians of the World Unite!
You have nothing to lose but your chains
(and fifty Imperial Crowns...that's points to the non-initiated).

The Icebergs, Frederic Church
The Icebergs by Frederic Church, c.1861

Now comrades, it is time for youto invest consideration into your art history project for semester one.In the pedagogical lexicon, this is a performance based assessment.  In other words, you will be graded on something that centers on how you research, present, and create rather than on a sit-down test.

This assessment focuses on artists who happen to be American; imagine that! If I were to guess, I would wager that you know more about Rembrandt, Van Gogh and Michaelangelo than you do about any of the artists whose names appear below.
