How is the U.S. addressing the issue of trade with China?

INTRODUCTION:  In the first paragraph introduce your topic, give a broad overview of the elements of the paper including the current trade relationship with China and conclude the paragraph with your thesis. In this case the thesis will simply state how effective you think U.S. trade relations with China have been.  In your concluding paragraph you will use information from the paper to go into details about the effectiveness.

NOTE: Do NOT use the first person “I” in this paper.  (ex.  DO NOT write: “In this paper I will discuss U.S. trade relations with China.”  Instead write something like “ Trade relations between the U.S. and China have changed significantly over the last 60 years.”)

 

 

BACKGROUND

  • Explain the history the United States has had with China, with a specific focus on the issue of trade.

NOTE:  Go back far enough in history to the address the cold war and the cessation of trade after communism under Mao began in China. 
Also address the opening of trade in the 1970s and how trade relations have progressed. Include human rights and the Tiananmen Square massacre.

 

 

 

 

 

U.S. POLICY TODAY

  • What is the current U.S. foreign policy regarding trade with China?
  • Examine the pro’s and con’s of the current trade relationship. 
    • Include information about human rights considerations.
  • How has the U.S. worked with international organizations to achieve its foreign policy objectives in relation to China and trade?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

CONCLUSION & EVALUATION OF U.S. POLICY  (Your opinion using evidence to support it)

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of U.S. policies, choices or actions regarding China and trade. 
  • Use evidence from your research to support your opinion.
