Task: What am I supposed to do?

You are required to complete a research project this semester that will include a PowerPoint, video, or other technological presentation and lesson.  You may work alone or with a partner, but partners must be approved by the teacher.  The project can pertain to any topic in European History from 1450 through 1830. 

YOU MUST DEVELOP A FOCUSED PROJECT ON A SPECIFIC TOPIC.

Keep in mind that when you choose a topic

YOU NEED TO BE SPECIFIC AND FOCUS YOUR RESEARCH. 

You should also pick a topic that is significant in European history.  For example, if you were thinking about doing a project on exploration you would need to decide on a specific topic in exploration to limit and focus your research ie.:  the new technologies in navigation

You may also choose a historical figure of importance, and it would be great to see a project done on women in European history.

Use of Information: How will I use this information?

Project requirements when submitting them to the teacher:

  • Copy of your presentation (CD, documentary, etc).
  • Outline notes of your presentation (lesson plan)
  • A one page summary of your topic to provide to the class at the conclusion of your presentation (can be two pages, but only one page back to back)
  • Annotated bibliography (10 source minimum with a minimum of 4 primary sources). 
  • Use the appropriate bibliographic format.

Synthesis: How is the information best presented?

 

Your presentation should be no less than five minutes and no more than ten minutes.  Remember, you are developing a focused project on a specific topic.

The focus of your research should include the following:

1. Explain the era/timeframe this topic incorporates.
2. The country/countries are involved.
3. The important and relevant figures and their roles.
4. Focus on the political, economic, and social aspects of your topic as 
    well as the role of women.
5.  Provide detail and analysis of this topic in your presentation.
6.Explain the significance of this topic as it relates to history.

Research Project Rubric

You will be graded in four categories, each worth 50 points:

The project details important political, economic, and social aspects and impact.  The role of women is included if relevant.
