Assignment
Objective: The objective of this activity is
to identify and discuss significant current
events or cultural aspects of the target culture, in
the French language. This is to be
done throughout the year, in preparation for the final
semester exam, when you will be
asked to write about a topic of choice, in French.
Requirements: Find a noteworthy current event
in the newspaper, a magazine, from the
Web Sites suggested below. The article or the
cultural notes should be found in the target
language to avoid translation.
-
Choose the members of your group and write your names in
the classroom
calendar.
-
Read your article, summarize it, and prepare to present it
orally with your group.
-
As you are reading the article, look up new or difficult words
in the dictionary.
-
When writing your summary, try to answer the questions:
Who? What? Where? Why? and How?
-
Reports should be given in a creative, theatrical, newscast
format with a
maximum of 3 people. Do not simply read a boring
report to the class.
-
You must turn in the article and your summary following the
presentation.
