2011 PSAT Information
The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test, the PSAT, familiarizes students with the format of the Scholastic Aptitude
Test, the SAT. The exam measures verbal and mathematical abilities important in college planning, gives students an idea
of what the SAT will be like and forecasts SAT scores.
The 2011 PSAT was administered at WJ on October 12th. Scores will be distributed to students in early December with a meeting to discuss PSAT results with parents and students scheduled for December 12th. The links to the College Board website on the left side of the page are useful for finding out more about PSAT scoring.
Accommodations: Students needing testing accommodations for the official
PSAT must have prior approval by the College Board in order to receive them. Information about receiving testing
accommodations is available on the College Board website by clicking "About Accommodations" at left. Counselors are
available to answer questions and help families understand the College Board application process for testing accommodations.
Students who have already been approved for accommodations on other College Board exams (AP, SAT, etc.) do not need to
re-apply.
Locations: Prior to the test date, student test room assignments will be
posted throughout the building. Students should locate their assigned testing locations prior to the morning of the test. Students must bring pencils and a calculator with extra batteries to their assigned test rooms. Sophomores and Juniors must also bring photo identification.
Scores:
PSAT results for students who took the practice PSAT can be accessed through www.revolutionprep.com and clicking "Login". The login instructions are printed on the cover of their test booklet, which they brought home on October 12th. In the event that this booklet was lost, please email Dennis Reynolds for login information to access student scores.
Exam scores for all students taking the Official PSAT will be distributed by Counseling Services.
There will be an evening session for students and parents, hosted by Counseling Services, on December 12, 2011, 7:00 p.m. in the WJ Cafeteria. Attendees will receive information on how to interpret PSAT results as they relate to the SAT exam.
