WJ community members who use email are strongly encouraged to subscribe to the school's electronic mailing list.
The mailing list was created to announce WJ events and facilitate communication about school-related issues among members of the WJ community. All
are welcome to subscribe to the list. Please take a minute to review the listserv policy
before subscribing. Replies to messages from the list will go to the original sender only. To send messages to all list
members send email to ptsa@walterjohnson.com
Only list members are allowed to post messages to the list.
To subscribe to the list if you are sure your web browser is properly
configured to send email from your address:

Subscribing, changing the subscription option or unsubscribing from the list must be confirmed by a PROMPT reply to the
confirmation email received from the listserv.
When subscribing, unsubscribing or changing subscription options do not send your message to
ptsa@walterjohnson.com!
Digest Mode
To receive a daily digest of posted emails rather than individual emails, send a blank email to
ptsa-digest@walterjohnson.com and reply to the confirmation email.
Subscribing in "Digest" mode will cause you to miss
time-sensitive announcements.
Reading the Online Archive
The listserv maintains an archive of messages which goes back several months, depending on space constraints. To access the archive:
- Go to http://mail.walterjohnson.com/ and click "Mailing Lists" under the blue bar that says "Guests"
- On the next screen, click the Mailing List "ptsa" and wait for the pop-up box to appear.
- In "User Name" put the email address you used to subscribe to the list. The "password" is the 10 digit confirmation
number for your subscription. If you did not keep a record of your confirmation number, send a blank email to
ptsa-confirm@walterjohnson.com and it will be sent via reply email.
- Once you have the 10 digit confirmation number and are able to logon, you will be presented with a list of the emails
in the current archive. At this point you can read any message by clicking the sender's name. You can filter or search
messages by using the bar at the top of the screen.
If you are interested in reading messages ONLY via the archive, receiving NO email, send a blank email to
ptsa-null@walterjohnson.com and reply to the confirmation email to stop delivery of all posting.
Walter Johnson PTSA Listserv Policy
The Walter Johnson High School Listserv is an important way in which we
can increase the general level of communication between parents, teachers and administrators.
The listserv is intended to be used in two ways:
- First, school-related announcements may be broadcast to the listserv;
- Second, it can be used for the sharing of information concerning school issues that may be of interest to the WJ community.
A common-sense code of conduct will be followed (manners, privacy, no solicitation, etc). There will be a moderator whose job is to
ensure that the listserv is used properly.
Please take a moment to review the following instructions.
To start sending messages to all members of this group, simply send email to ptsa@walterjohnson.com
If you do not wish to belong to the listserv, you may unsubscribe by sending an email to
ptsa-off@walterjohnson.com
If you wish to receive a daily "digest" of emails rather than individual emails as they are
sent you may subscribe in "digest" mode by sending an email to ptsa-digest@walterjohnson.com
Changing the subscription option or unsubscribing from the list must be confirmed by a
PROMPT reply to the confirmation email received from the listserv.
Pressing the REPLY button will reply ONLY to the SENDER.
The following rules will apply to all postings:
- once a person has posted an item, that person may, once more post to "all" any
clarification, and/or addition to that item. Any additional postings responding to any member
comments, must be to SENDER of that comment. Conversely, any member responding to a posting,
may respond to "all" ONE time. Any additional comments on a particular posting must be made to
sender of posting being responded to. This limit to "all" responses will alleviate much of the
back and forth but does not censor those of you who feel a need to comment on every comment.
Continued postings to all, in violation of the new use rules will result in that person being
restricted from listserv use. The default response of the listserv is to "sender", so it takes
an overt act to send a message to "all".
- Exempt from multiple postings to all on a similar topic are PTSA board members and
committee persons, keeping us informed of a particular issue, school administration and from
time to time any other person or persons posting a topic that is continual and relevant to the
school community (such as Booster Club).
