A SPECIAL ISSUE ON THE 1840s:
DARWIN REFLECTS ON VOYAGE OF THE
HMS BEAGLE

ASSIGNMENT   (Interdisciplinary Connections)
  1. You will work in a group of three.
  2. Your group will create three articles for a magazine about the 1840s when Charles Darwin returned from his journey around the world on the HMS Beagle. Each group will be assigned one country (see table of TOPICS below) that Darwin visited.
  3. Each person will write one article in a lively and interesting magazine essay form. The groups will decide who will write on which subject (see table of TOPICS below).   We will coordinate the choices so there is little overlap.
  4. Each person will insert at least one visual to illustrate the most important point of his/her article.
  5. The group will write and produce the magazine section together.
  6. Each person will create an annotated bibliography of at least six sources: two print sources, two electronic sources (GALENET or Encyclopedias, and two internet sources.
