WJHS Online Course Bulletin

Dear Student and Parents:

Each year, as you plan your schedule for the following year, you are engaging in a very important activity in your ongoing education.  I hope as you consider courses that you will also consider challenging yourself with a variety of classes that include honors and/or Advanced Placement (AP®) courses.  Walter Johnson High School (WJHS) has an excellent reputation with colleges and universities.  They are aware that our school has a wide variety of honors and AP® classes to offer students and expect to see some of these classes on your transcript.  If you are considering taking a more challenging course load for next year, but feel a bit nervous, please be assured that your teachers are experienced and they want you to be successful.

As you plan for next year, be sure to meet with your counselor and talk to teachers about the different classes you are considering.  They can help you determine the appropriate course workload and find balance in your schedule.  Remember, as you strive to take interesting courses in a variety of subjects, that WJHS has strong music, theater, computer science and art programs.  We also offer a large number of upper level electives in all departments. Explore these options and ask lots of questions to help you make the decisions that are right for you and your future plans.  Also, you might think about undertaking a Senior Research Project where you can design an independent learning experience around one of your specific interests.

Good luck with planning a challenging and engaging set of courses.  I know you will have a fantastic 2018 – 2019 school year.

 Sincerely,

 Jennifer Baker
