Resources

Students use the Media Center to Research class assignments. In order to support these research projects, Media Center staff develops bibliographies and selects books for special reserve, and evaluates periodical and online resources.

Print

Print resources include more than 20,000 fiction and nonfiction books, over 40 magazine subscriptions, and 4 daily newspapers. Nearly 1,000 videotapes are available to teachers for classroom use. This includes our Cable in the Classroom Collection of programs taped from cable TV. In addition, Media Center staff can assist teachers in accessing Video Streaming resources. Ongoing additions of new materials to support the curricula keep the collection current.

Computers

The forty-seven computers in the Media Center are for educational use. Students and staff search the library catalog, online subscription databases and the Internet, and can use Word, Excel, Power Point and other programs. All rules for school computer labs apply to these computers. See List of Online Resources

Video Editing Stations

Videotape editing stations and the analog editing suit in the TV Studio can be used by students.

Patrons Catalog

Staff and students can access the Media Center Patron's Catalog from any computer on the school's network. The catalog is not available remotely.The catalog includes the Media Center's entire collection of print and non-print resources. To facilitate use of the collection, the catalog is also accessible on a stand-alone basis, not requiring a password. Staff is always available to help with catalog searches.
