Test Prep

Here are some resources for our students:

  • MCPS offers free online tools to help students prepare for college exams through TCA:
    • Be sure to do Step 1 ("Overview") within the study guide.
    • Step 4 ("Review your Skills") lets you click on review lessons and quizzes in any of the subtest areas.
    • If you take one of the mock ACT or SAT's, you will have customized lessons identified for you within "Your Critical Skills".  Be sure and go back and Rework the problems you originally got wrong - this is where a lot of the learning takes place.
    • For a review of key concepts just before taking the ACT or SAT, click on "Final Prep" on the left of the screen.  Completing Final Prep will take about two and a half hours, but you can break it up at your convenience.

  • Students may also consider the summer school offerings through MCPS.
  • Montgomery College offers SAT prep courses to high school students.
  • Walt Whitman High School offers an SAT/ACT verbal and math preparation course during the school day. It is one semester in length. Students should see their counselor for more information.
