*****The British Are Coming!

For a number of years Walt Whitman and the St. Peter’s school in York, England have had a student exchange.  This year the English students will be visiting Whitman from October 22-31.  Whitman students will travel to England after exams are completed.  The students from St. Peter’s school are juniors and seniors.  This year’s delegation consists of 13 boys and 9 girls; all are studying American government.  The purpose of the exchange is both academic and cultural.  Students will attend classes, visit the White House, Congress, museums, Round House Theater and participate in a service project.  We need families to host the students (preferably older students).  If you can possibly host a student or two – please contact Andrew_Sonnabend@mcpsmd.org.

*****Seoul!  Seoul!  Seoul!

For the eight consecutive year, our sister school from Seoul, South Korea will be visiting us October 24-October 31.  Seoul High School (SHS), like Whitman High School, is one of the most highly regarded schools in Korea.  We have visited Seoul in previous years either during spring break or the summer, and each fall, we welcome them back to Whitman and to visit sights in Washington, DC.  We are seeking families who are interested and able to host an international student for that week in your home.  SHS is a boys school – and thus sends us 10 excellent, mature, fun-loving young men each year.  During the school days, they will be attending classes at Whitman and sightseeing around DC.  In the evenings and on the weekends and days we are off from school, they will be able to hang out with your Whitman student and your family can enjoy the experience of having a student from another country.  We are fortunate to be able to have these partnerships with schools around the world.  No knowledge of Korean is needed.  If your student loves Asian culture, K-pop, or getting to meet people who live somewhere else, please contact Mira_Chung at mcpsmd.org.
