MCPS delays, cancellations and closings are listed at http://www.schools-out.com/montgomerycounty.shtml. Besides listing the information, www.schools-out.com also includes a link for requesting that information be sent to you via email.

About Public Announcements

Information about school operations is announced publicly as soon as possible on local radio and television stations and other media. In addition to schools-out.com, emergency delay and closing information may be found at:

• www.mcps.k12.md.us - The MCPS Web home page immediately displays emergency announcements (in large red letters at the top of the page) when appropriate
• MCPS telephone information service at 301-279-3673
• MCPS Cable TV Channel 34
• local radio and television stations

If schools are closed or delayed, the announcement is made no later than 6:00 a.m. (or the night before if possible). If schools are closing early, the announcements are made by 11:00 a.m. Weekend decisions are made by the county's Interagency Coordinating Board for the use of public facilities (see Community Use of Public Facilities), but the same media list is used.
