Media Center

Mission Statement

The school library media program is an integral part of Wheaton High School’s instructional program. The media center facility provides all staff and students access to a wide variety of information that supports the curriculum as well as materials for leisure time reading. Our mission is to encourage students to be life-long learners and to help them be independent and effective users of information.

Hours

Monday through Thursday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m and Fridays from 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.. The Media Center is open during lunch, before and after school for study, reading, and research.
Resources
The media center offers a diversity of resources including reference books, non-fiction and fiction books, magazines, newspapers and video tapes. Media center computers provide access to the web and specialized online subscription services through the MCPS network.

Media Center Policy

No food or drink allowed, water bottles are permitted. Students must be involved in research, study, or reading. Please keep the noise level to a minimum; be courteous and aware that others are working. Internet Access is to be used for educational purposes only. Online chatting, instant messages and computer games are not permitted in the IMC. ID badges are used to check out any materials. All school rules will be observed and enforced in the IMC.

Passes and IDs

No pass is necessary before or after school or during lunch from 11:35-12:35. A completed general use slip or agenda book pass is needed for IMC student use at all other times.

 

Photocopy Machine

A photocopy machine is available for students in the IMC

Overdues/Fines

Approximately every 2 weeks, overdue notices will be sent out to students through their first period teacher. Please return books promptly by the due date or renew them. All materials past due will generate a fine of $.10 per day.

24-Hour Book Depository

The book depository can be used to return materials when the IMC is closed. It is located to the right of the IMC entrance.
