Overview

The College & Career Coordinator provides assistance for researching careers, colleges and universities, trade schools, internships, apprenticeships, etc. College testing, scholarship and financial aid information information is available. The center serves as a resource for students in all grade levels. Information is stored in various media formats; including reference books, DVDs, and web-based computer programs.  

 

In the news... 

HBCU College Fair: Wednesday, February 15, 2012, 6 pm- 8 pm, at Blair High School.  MCPS, along with the NAACP, is sponsoring an HBCU College Fair for students in grades 9-12 and their parents/guardians.  There will also be opportunities for current seniors to get instant admissions decisions from many participating HBCU colleges and universities.  Pre-registration for this event is recommended.  Please visit http://hbcucf.mbhs.edu for details and to register.  Students planning to do on-the-spot admissions should see their school counselor as soon as possible.

New College Application Procedures for Seniors!  

 

This year, Wheaton High School will be sending the majority of transcripts, recommendations, and other required documents electronically to colleges and universities. Students should follow the procedures listed below:

January 1, 2012: FAFSA available online 

Schedule an appointment in the College and Career Center to complete your FAFSA.

February 2012

February 6: FAFSA Workshop, 6 pm-8 pm: A hands-on workshop for families to complete the FAFSA online. The workshop will be held in the Media Center at Wheaton High School. In case of inclement weather, the snow date is February 14. Details of what documents to bring will be provided.

College Fair -  Field Trip for Juniors  

National College Fair 

All 11th grade students are invited to attend a field trip to the
National College Fair on Wednesday, April 24. Students will have the opportunity
to explore college options as over 280 colleges/universities will be in attendance.
The fair is open to the public the evening of April 24 from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm.
so that parents and students may attend.

The cost for the trip is $6 to cover transportation fees. Students will depart
from Wheaton HS at 9:30 am and return around 12:30 pm. Students will need
to bring a bag lunch, as no food is available at the fair.

 

How do I apply for College Entrance Exam waivers?

Ms. Hill or Ms. Strasnick issue fee waivers for students who qualify. Please come to room 227B or to the College & Career Center.
