Middle Years Programme (MYP) Updates

MYP Semester Progress Reports were sent home along with second quarter report cards on February 8. The Progress Reports detail each student’s achievement on MYP criteria, assessed in each content area throughout the school year. A letter, sent along with the report, explains how to interpret your child’s progress report.

MYP students are knowledgeable risk-takers! This winter brings two competitive events to our school: the school-wide Spelling Bee will be held on February 20, and the school-wide Black History Bee will be held on March 5. Class winners will be selected to compete at the school level through first period classes this month. Best of luck to our participants!

Student Service Learning (SSL) Updates

Numerous opportunities to earn SSL hours by serving the community are available throughout the winter. Here are two opportunities that welcome middle-school aged volunteers:

Volunteers ages 10 and older are needed for food packing and distribution every third Saturday of the month from 9:00 am until noon at the College Park Community Food Bank. For more information, please visit http://www.collegeparkfoodbank.com

The Little Falls Watershed Alliance welcomes volunteers to help remove invasive weeds from Little Falls Stream Valley Park. Gloves and clippers are supplied. Please visit http://www.lfwa.org for more information. Please note that volunteers under age 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
