The Curriculum
Students in the Middle Years Programme follow the MCPS curriculum, with an emphasis on developing critical thinking skills with a global perspective. Eight subjects are taught in each year of the program to provide a balanced liberal arts education. The eight subjects are:
- Arts
- Humanities (World Studies)
- Language A (English)
- Language B (Foreign Language)
- Math

- Technology
In addition, students are expected to complete a Personal Project in year 5, or Grade 10, of the program.
Five themes, known as the Areas of Interaction, are woven throughout the curricula to help students connect learning and develop critical thinking skills.
The Five Areas of Interaction are…
- Approaches to Learning - “learning how to learn”
- Community and Service – doing something good without getting paid
- Health & Social Education – making good choices for your mind and your body
- Environments – taking care of our world today and keeping it fit for the future
- Human Ingenuity – creating things that can impact the world
