As the Summer Passes, It is important for us to be able to update our school community on important changes that go on during the summer. As well as being posted on Westland Net, Important Updates will be posted here as well.
August Information Packets
Normally our summer packets arrive during the first week of August, but the school was informed that the Bus Schedules would not be available until the first week of August, so we will be sending home the Packets on August 4th. This will give us an opportunity to include this important document.
School Supplies
A list of the school supplies and fees will be provided in the summer packet sent home in August. It is also posted in the "mini links" section of the webpage.
Orientation Update
I hope everyone is enjoying their summer.
This summer Westland Middle School will be adding six new classrooms. Due to the building construction, we will not be able to offer summer orientation sessions. A county-wide school orientation will be held at Westland MS on Friday, August 22nd from 7:50 am to 11:30 am. All incoming students new to Westland MS are invited to attend. This orientation will provide students with an opportunity to see the school building, meet teachers and other new students, practice following a school schedule, and prepare for the first day of school. Bus transportation will be provided. All Westland MS families will receive a copy of our bus routes and daily bus schedule in July.
Summer Reading Novel Update:
It has come to our attention that one of our summer reading books, Peak: A Novel, is not out in paperback yet, and the price for the hardcover version is quite high. Therefore, it is no longer a required novel for our students to read over the summer. If your child has already read Peak, they may use it as for their Fiction Assignment.
