NAACP Parent Outreach:
Watkins Mill parents are encouraged to come and support the NAACP Parent Outreach. The purpose of the NAACP Parent Outreach is to provide a forum through which interested citizens may offer assistance, guidance and support to African American parents and students of Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) to pursue the highest quality education possible through encouragement, information sharing, positive motivation, critical evaluation and advocacy.

This is a great opportunity for parents to take a more proactive role in the education of their children, through knowledge of good parenting techniques and an understanding of the MCPS system. This will also increase parent's participation in the PTSA and school activities.

Career Center

The Career Center, located next to the Counseling Office, is open to students before school, during lunch and after school without a pass.  Students should stop in and see what the Center has to offer.  Students may:

• perform a college search
•  read through college catalogues
•  get scholarship and financial aid information
•  research career options, and check out the job board. 

Most importantly, students can look in the College Recruiter Visit binder to see which colleges, tech schools or military recruiters will be visiting. 

The Career Center Newsletter is published monthly and is available on the school website and in the Career Center.  Inside these monthly  issues, students and parents  will find information concerning the college admissions process and career planning including college testing information and dates, scholarships, financial aid, College Fairs, college recruiter visits, Open Houses and other items of interest.

You and your students are encouraged to read this newsletter monthly and to stop by the Career Center to explore the wealth of information that is available to help students plan for their post-secondary experiences.
