Reading Promotion
Book Club
Each year students in grades one through five are invited to become part of the WLES book club. Younger students hear picture books and do activities inspired by the stories. Older students read novels and meet for discussion sessions.
Interesting Data
Circulation data will be displayed. Students will be able to see which grade levels are checking out the most books! Prizes will be given to winners at the end of each term.
Book Fair
Scholastic Book Fairs are held in the fall and spring of each school year.
Book Swap Box
If you have used books in good condition, donate them to the SWAP BOX located in the media center. Just put your book in and take one that someone else left. Be sure to take only the number of books you put in. For example: leave two books, choose two different ones. These are books you can keep forever, or swap again!
Peer Book Reviews
Read a book review written by our fourth and fifth graders on Blackboard! Post your own reaction to a book.
Black-Eyed Susan Award
Help choose the next winner for Maryland's Black-Eyed Susan Book Award. Mrs. Z. starts this reading promotion after winter break.
