6th Grade

6th grade FACS is an introduction to basic cooking techniques. The students work together in groups leaning cooperatively as well as independently to create many wonderful cooking projects. FACS prepares them for 7th grade and encourages them to become young chefs.

Cooking projects include:

 The sewing project focuses on construction of tote bags using the sewing machines.

 

 

7th Grade

In 7th grade FACS we become more creative with the cooking labs. Students have the opportunity to make recipe selections. They build on prior experience while learning new skills in the kitchen.

Cooking projects Include:

In the Sewing unit, material selection and sewing construction are enhanced. Independence and success are fostered while working on constructing a pair of shorts. The students have picked out some wonderful fabrics.

 

 

8th Grade

In 8th grade FACS the students are using their skills to create more instructive, exciting dishes. Recipe choices are researched and carried out in the many labs throughout the semester. The students also have bake sales to raise money to help those less fortunate. Various cultures and cuisines of many countries are researched. The students give reports and prepare foods from selected countries. This unit gives students the opportunity to learn from one another while trying foods from different lands.
