The Media Center at Thurgood Marshall Elementary School has a collection of over 13,000 print and non-print materials including books, periodicals, videos, laser disks, and CD ROMs. The Research Learning Hub includes seven networked Macintosh computers and a Macintosh multimedia machine. These are used by the students to access the library's computerized Patrons' Catalog as well as for research. An on-line encyclopedia, atlases, magazine index, educational stand-alone CD ROMs, and various software programs are available for student use. The library's circulation system is computerized and students check-out over 200 items daily including CD ROMS.

The Media Specialist meets with classes regularly in the media center to teach students research skills and how to become independent users of the library. Current technologies are incorporated into the curriculum and used as tools by the students.
