Shakespeare Club's production for the 2006-2007 school year is Twelfth Night!
Twelfth Night is a fun comedy of mix-ups, disguised identity, and wit, with
many wonderful characters. Auditions were held in early October, and we have
begun rehearsing.
We are currently looking for more
students who are interested in joining Twelfth Night's stage crew. The stage
crew will organize and design costumes, props, and scenery. It will also
operate the curtain and help adjust the set for certain scenes. Stage crew
will help decide the best way to represent parts of the play through set,
props, etc.! All 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students are welcome to join!
Shakespeare Club will soon begin
rehearsing three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) after
school. Members should try to attend at least two rehearsals per week. We
will meet in room 104 and the cafetorium.
We will rehearse up until mid-May,
preparing for our performance at Takoma's Dramatic Arts Festival, as well as
a possible performance at the Folger Shakespeare Festival. We will be
preparing a 30-minute version of the play.
Our sponsor/director is
Mr. Chupka.
If you have any questions, please see him in room 104, or e-mail him.
More About Shakespeare
Club
On May 13, 2006, Shakespeare Club performed a very successful
Much Ado About Nothing at the TPMS Dramatic Arts Festival.
Shakespeare Club is a place where sixth, seventh, and eighth
grade students will have the chance to explore Shakespeare's plays through
improvisation, voice, text, stage fighting, and stage blocking. In the first
few meetings of each year, students do plenty of improvisation work to get
to know each other better. At the end of the year, they usually have a party
and rent the movie version of their play to watch.
