MathCounts

MathCounts is a math enrichment program for students who enjoy solving challenging problems in algebra, geometry, probability, number theory, and other branches of mathematics.  Mathcounts also expands students' understanding of math concepts and processes beyond topics covered in the curriculum.  MathCounts members practice weekly in preparation for a series of competitions at local, state, and national levels.  In addition to meeting every Thursday after school in Room 307 with Ms. Sarah Manchester and Mr.Justin Fraser, the team meets about one Saturday per month for three hours to work through sample competitions.  Though students are highly competitive and serious about what they do, they also enjoy MathCounts. The Takoma Park team has consistently won the local and state Mathcounts competitions.  Every year, there are a several members from our school who qualify to represent Maryland at the national competition.   All students are welcome to join us for an enriching and challenging mathematical experience.
