Cashinawá

The Cashinawá tribe lives along the Peruvian-Brazilian border, near the Purus River. This tribe is known as the bat people. They are brutally defensive of their territory. They are superb archers and are also masterful with blowguns. They often make traps that shoot blowgun darts automatically, which they use for both hunting and warfare. These people exercise farming, fishing, and hunting techniques to survive. These people believe that humans have two souls. One of these souls lives in the eyes of a person and goes to heaven after death. The other is one’s shadow, which becomes a ghost after death. They also tell many stories of humans becoming animals and vice-versa. Many tales also relate with ghosts. These peoples are perhaps the most religious of the ones discussed on this website.
