Boras

One of the more peaceful tribes is the Boras tribe. These natives live in what is now northwest Peru and southern Colombia. The Boras Indians are known to have a great knowledge of plants and herbal medicines. Many anthropologists have been allowed to live and study with the Boras. During the rubber boom of the early 20^th century, many Boras Indians were enslaved on rubber plantations in horrible conditions. Many were executed for attempted escapes, and some died of starvation or foreign diseases. The Boras people have had a very hard history and yet continue to be friendly with the outside world.
