Parents of current kindergarten students are invited to attend an information session to learn about the Takoma Park Elementary School Primary Magnet Program. The TPES Primary Magnet offers enriched and/or accelerated instruction to students who demonstrate academic achievement.

Interested parents will learn how to apply to have their children screened for the program. The screening will take place in March, the date TO BE DETERMINED, at Carver Educational Services Center, 850 Hungerford Drive, Rockville, Maryland 20850. Approximately fifteen children will be invited to attend TPES Magnet School. These students will be invited based on multiple criteria that include screening results, math/reading level as well as teacher and parent input.

A Few Very Important Notes!

Please do not bring children to the Primary Magnet Informational Session.
The magnet program begins in 1^st grade. Current 1^st and 2^nd grade students are not eligible for the program.
The information session will take place at 7511 Holly Avenue, Takoma Park, Maryland 20912 and begins promptly at 9:30.a.m.
Before having your child screened for this primary magnet program, please carefully consider if this program, the change in environment and commute is the best thing for your child. If your child is invited to the TPES magnet program, the expectation is that he/she WILL attend unless unexpected circumstances arise.
