Introduction |
Congratulations!!! Premier Plant
Publications heard the news that you are quickly becoming a plant growth expert.
The publishers have been asked to begin a new publication for elementary school
students and they need your help. Premier Plant Publications would like for you
to use your expertise to design a pamphlet or a brochure about plants for their
new publication, Primarily Plants.
|
|
Task/Process |
The Editor in Chief of Primarily Plants, formerly known as your teacher, has provided you with resources to find information, as well as guidelines to follow in order to successfully complete your brochure. You will use the information we have learned in class as well as information learned from any of the websites to produce an informative piece. The attractive design and layout of the brochure will be up to you.
As you gather knowledge about plant
growth from the resources provided, you will need to use your journal to take
notes and draw illustrations of information you will include in your pamphlet
or brochure.
Information in your brochure must
include:
| Inside Flap
1. Visit The Great Plant Escape to review plant parts. 2. The following video will also help you learn about plant parts and their jobs.
3. Complete the Plant Diagram. 4. Once you have completed the diagram right click with your mouse and click "save picture as". Save the diagram to My Pictures or copy and paste it onto the inside flap of your brochure. 5. Underneath the diagram you must write an informative paragraph explaining the the job of each plant part. |

|
Inside of the Brochure (Right Side) 1. The right side should be used to write about how to care for a plant. Visit the link Growing Plants Indoors. 2. Write a paragraph informing others on how to care for a plant. You may insert graphics to go along with your text.
|
||||
|
Pollination and Fertilization (Middle) 1. In addition to what you have
learned in class, please visit The
Great Plant Escape to review pollination and fertilization.
3. When writing your paragraph make sure you are very specific and include the parts of a flower involved in the process of pollination and fertilization. You may also complete the flower diagram in Word and copy and paste it onto the middle section of your brochure, replacing the picture that is already there. A labeled diagram will help your audience better understand the process. |
||||
|
The Life Cycle of a Plant (Left Side) 1. You will use the information you have learned in class from growing your Wisconsin Fast Plant to write this section.
|
||||
|
Remember that illustrations and diagrams are very helpful in conveying information and will make your final product more appealing/inviting to your audience. Keep your eye open for good graphics that you would like to include in your brochure.
|
||||
|
Enrichment (Back of Brochure) 1. Use the following resources to learn about how plants make food. Use the back of the brochure to write a paragraph informing your readers on the process of photosynthesis:

Evaluation |
Your project should be accurate, neat and
include all parts required in the task/process section. See how you will
be evaluated by going to the link below. You may print a copy of the rubric to
refer back to as you are working.

Conclusion |
Job Well Done!!! Primarily Plants
is very pleased with your work. The Editor in Chief, your teacher, is proud of
the job you have done. Your published pieces can be used in your portfolio and
