Joyce P. Budman, Assistant Principal

This is my third year at Stone Mill Elementary School as the Assistant Principal, and I love it! This is my 29th year as an educator and my sixth year as an Assistant Principal. I have taught kindergarten, first, and second grade as well as being a Staff Development Teacher. As an administrator, I have worked at Watkins Mill and Glen Haven Elementary Schools. At Stone Mill, I am the Gifted and Talented liaison as well as the testing coordinator.

I have spent all but my first three years of my life in Montgomery County, and I think it is a great place to live and grow! I went to school at English Manor Elementary School, Parkland Junior High, and Peary High School. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in early childhood education from the University of Maryland College Park. I completed my Masters degree in school administration and supervision at Bowie State University.

I am a wife and mother of a son (age 26) and a daughter (age 23). My daughter is getting married in the spring of 2010.

I believe that all children have a right to a high quality education. I believe that personal relationship building is an essential component of an effective learning environment. I believe all teachers can be effective teachers. They must know the subjects they teach, be able to analyze data, and plan for effective instruction. I believe in leadership through service.
