Homework in First Grade
-
The primary objectives of homework are to promote and enhance learning skills, self-discipline and organizational skills. The Homework Packet is a place where students can practice skills that are taught in class. Homework should take 15-30 minutes, Monday through Thursday evenings. It is the student’s personal responsibility to complete assignments and return them to school. Students are held accountable for returning assignments for a learning skills grade.
-
Homework packets will go home on Mondays and are due on that Friday. Homework packets should be placed in the homework bin at the beginning of the day. The parent role in homework is to support, encourage, and assist where needed. Checking a child’s homework is helpful. Please complete activities as they are assigned. Please extend and enrich activities as you see fit.
