Prom

Prom Information

Prom is May 23, 2008, at 9:00 pm, at the Hilton Hotel in Rockville. Tickets for prom will go on sale on May 12. Please fill out a ticket request form before purchasing your tickets. You do not need a date to attend prom. Formal attire is expected.

Your prom ticket purchase includes admission to the After Prom party.

After Prom Information

The PTSA is sponsoring the After Prom party at the Fairland Rec Center. After Prom goes from 1 am to 5 am on Saturday, May, 24, 2008. Even if you do not go to the prom, you may purchase a ticket to the After Prom party. Tickets are $5, at the school bank. Tickets will go on sale May 12, 2008.

Graduation

Don't Have a Cap or Gown

Seniors! Are you going to be at graduation? Forgot to order your cap and gown? You can still do so! Call National Quality Products at (703) 691-8783 NO LATER than the first week of May. They will accept orders by phone with a credit card or you may mail a check directly to them.

Don't delay! You will not walk without a cap and gown.

Student Performances at Graduation

Students are invited to apply to be part of the graduation ceremony. Students interested in speaking at graduation should prepare a written speech. Submissions are due to Mr. Griffiths in the English office by noon on April 18. Follow up auditions will be held on April 29 at 2:20.

Musical auditions will be held on May 1, 2008.

Graduation

Graduation is June 2, 2008, at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, DC. Families should plan on having 6 tickets available. Everyone, including small children, must have a ticket to attend the ceremony. Tickets will be distributed at the mandatory graduation rehearsal on May 29, 2008.

Graduates must be at DAR by 9:00 SHARP. The ceremony will start at 10:00 am. No one will be admitted to the hall during the students' procession.

Families with special needs

A ticket taker and security officer will be stationed at the D Street entrance for the convenience of all patrons with disabilities who arrive by vehicle or use the drive to avoid the front steps.

Students requiring handicapped seating for parents or guests should contact the senior class sponsor, Mrs. Kelley, before May 23, 2008.

No wheelchairs are permitted in the aisles at Constitution Hall. Guide dogs are permitted to accompany the owner and will be permitted under the seat or at the owner's feet. The graduation ceremony will be translated for the hard of hearing.

If you need a sign language interpreter or cued speech translation, please contact Mrs. Kelley ASAP.

Scholarships

Lensay Kassa Scholaship

Available to a Springbrook High School senior planning to attend a school for Performing Arts and major in Dance. Prepare a 500 word essay explaining why you have chosen to pursue a career in dance and why you believe pursuing this goal is important. Email your essay to savalifemd@aol.com. You have until Friday, April 25 by 12:00 a.m. to submit your essay. Do not use the postal mail for submissions.

Important Guidelines: The subject of your email must be: "Lensay Kassa Scholarship". Also, your essay submission must be within the body of the email along with your name, phone number, email address and the name of the school that you will attend. Do not email your essay as an attachment. We will review all submissions and select a recipient based on the quality, and sincerity of the content of your essay. On May 15, 2008 (the awards assembly), the chosen recipient will be awarded $500.

Desariee Pumphrey Scholarship

The Desariee Pumphrey Scholarship Contest will award $500 to a Springbrook High School senior student. The scholarship is NOT an academic scholarship - It is entirely based on an essay submission.

Who's Eligible?

To be eligible for the scholarship award, applicants must be a Springbrook High School senior. You must also plan to attend/or have been accepted to a 4-year program majoring in Early Childhood Development/Education. The institution you choose must be a college or university.

How Do I Apply?

There Are Just Two Steps Involved:

  1. You have until Friday, April 25 by 12:00 a.m. to write a 500 word essay on why you have chosen to pursue a career in early childhood development and why you believe that pursuing this goal is important.
  2. Your submission must be emailed to: "savalifemd" at aol dot com.
