THE GEORGE B. THOMAS, SR. LEARNING ACADEMY 
AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM 

The GBTLA After-school Program at Springbrook High School provides academic support and enhancement to high school students to improve their mastery in core academic subjects:

  • Mathematics
  • English
  • Science
  • Social studies

The programs also help students prepare for the High School Assessments (HSAs). Students are encouraged to take higher level courses such as Honors and Advanced Placement, and are given the support to be successful.

The academic portion of the program runs from 2:30 to 4:00 PM and is followed by the remaining one hour of Sports Academy from 4:00 to 5:00 PM, which is operated by the Montgomery County Department of Recreation.

The Springbrook Sports Academy

The Montgomery County Recreation Department and Springbrook High School are dedicated to providing after-school programming for high school teens. The Springbrook Sports Academy is the perfect opportunity for your teens to participate in a dynamic after-school program which includes safe, fun activities as well as academic support through the George B. Thomas Learning Center.

The Springbrook Sports Academy also provides participants a light snack daily and gives teens the opportunity to socialize with their friends in a structured, well supervised environment inside their school. The sports academy also offer activities such as Ping Pong, PS2 challenge, board games, basketball, small group discussions, pizza parties (on special event days), fieldtrips at least once a month and giveaways.
