Curriculum objectives:

Learn facts about Edgar Lee Masters and the time period in which he was living as background information to the study of Spoon River Anthology

All Levels skills through honors students

Instructional Roles:

Teacher: The teacher will provide instruction to students as to how to access the assignment, and use Windows to answer the questions
Library Media Specialist/Network Computer Specialist: The media specialist will create a link to the assignment off of   the school or teachers home page to help students access the assignment .  He or she may also work with the teacher to assist students in the lab during the assignment.

Subject Integration Opportunities:

This project can easily integrate History.  Extension activites exploring the timeperiod more in depth... possibly examining political issues of the day can be designed. In a very basic way math is integrated as students have to do basic calculations in order to answer the quesitons about Masters and his time period.

Grouping:

Students will work individually.

Evaluation:

A completed worksheet will be evaluated for complete and correct answers.

Follow-up:

The poems of Spoon River Anthology will be examined for elements that are particular to the time period of Edgar Lee Masters
