Manga is Japanese graphic novels or comic strips. We decided to form small groups to make five manga books.
The manga project was a very fun and engaging activity. There were many steps involved when we had to draw up our manga. We all had to research existing types of manga and study the different stories.
The manga project was cool. The first thing we did was differentiate between anime and manga. After that we researched types of manga and their styles. A challenging part of the project was when we had to create characters and then the story line. We had an idea of what we wanted our characters to look like, drawing them was easy. The best part was letting our imaginations run wild.
We also looked into adding some Japanese language into the manga. We found words and phrases applicable to our manga, found their corresponding Japanese words, and wrote them in Hiragana.
The project was enjoyable overall, but was difficult when it came to the drawing step. It felt like there couldn’t be much done by others, other than the main artist.
This activity was not only fun but challenging. It required the use of imagination, skill, and teamwork. Through this project we combined our collective skills and ideas to create a product, a manga book.
The manga project was really fun, though it was exhausting. It was fun to join a group and get to know others. Also, it was a time to stretch our imaginations and use drawings to illustrate what we wanted to say. The only trouble was when only one artist could draw, and how the coloring was not always as accurate. Besides all the mishaps, it was great. We felt so excited to scan our manga for others to see on the school website. We hope you enjoy them too.
