Calculator Rental Information
Many courses recommend the use of a calculator. Algebra 1 requires it. Students may lease or purchase a TI-83 or TI-83 Plus calculator from the math department. $30 for a year long lease or $90 to purchase. You must return your calculator at the end of the year in order to clear all obligations and receive a refund of your lease security deposit. If the calculator is lost, stolen or damaged while in your possession you must pay the full price (the security deposit goes towards the full price). To lease a calculator please click here to download the form, fill it out, get your parent's signature, bring the
form along with cash or check to the Math office in room F-201.

Credit For High School Courses Taken In Middle School
For students in Grades 6-8 who successfully complete a high school course and pass the final exam, credit will be awarded and the grade will be recorded automatically on their high school transcripts when these students enter high school. Students will no longer need to make a request for this to happen.

Grade 6-8 students may retake a high school course they took during middle school and receive the higher grade. They must retake the course the year immediately following their first attempt. The lower grade will not be reported on their transcripts. This option represents a significant change to earlier procedures. These students should use MCPS form 560-55, Request to Retake High School Course Taken in Middle School . This form is available in each school's guidance office and on the MCPS Web site, http://www.mcps.k12.md.us/departments/forms/pdf/560-55.pdf .
