A Message from PTSA President Karen Lee
Hello Sligo Stallions,
Thank you for visiting our Sligo Middle School PTSA web site. We hope that you find it both interesting and informative. I would like to introduce myself. My name is Karen Lee and I will be the PTSA President for School year 07-08. I look forward to working with Sligo Staff and Families to create wonderful learning opportunities to all students of Sligo.
Academic excellence at Sligo Middle School is founded on a partnership between students, staff, and parents. As a community of learners, we will work together to ensure intellectual, ethical, physical, social and emotional growth of each student.
This year it will be a goal of the PTSA to increase parent participation in the life of the school. There is a direct link between student success and parent involvement. This involvement can take many forms. It can be through volunteering in the classroom or other places in the school during the day. It can be helping the PTSA raise funds for the purpose of parent communication or it can be in attending events sponsored by the school or PTSA.
No matter how you do it, get involved…for your kids sake!
Below I have listed the goals of the PTSA in hopes of helping you think of ways to get and stay involved.

The Purposes of our Parent Teacher Student Association

To promote the welfare of the children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship.

To raise the standards of home life.

To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth.

To bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth.

To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education.
