Media Center Information

Mrs. Renee Raible and Mrs. James-Waterton welcome you to the Media Center. We are here to assist you and hope that you will visit before and after school as well as during Lunch.

Hours

The Media Center is open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on student days.  2:50pm - 4:00 pm for research, reading, study, homework, and circulation of materials on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday on activity bus days. Want to read more about our media center?

Instruction

Lessons on information retrieval skills are planned and taught. These lessons are integrated into the curriculum. Classes coming to the media center receive instruction before and during research activities. Click here for more help with your assignments!

Research Assistance

In addition to working with students during class time, individual assistance before school, during lunch periods and after school is provided.

Check-Out

The last name is used to check out materials. Media Center staff will assist you at the circulation desk.

Books

Students may check out up to three books. Additional books can be checked out with the media specialist's permission.

Loan Period

Books circulate for two weeks and can be renewed. Reserve: Books can be reserved for students. Leave your name and titles needed at the circulation desk.

Reference books

These books include encyclopedias, dictionaries, almanacs, atlases and other special references. They may be checked out at the end of the school day and must be returned before the next school day.

Special reserves

Books needed for research assignments are frequently put on Special Reserve. They circulate only with teacher permission.

Overdue Notices

Overdue lists are sent to teachers during the school year. Students who have overdue books are not permitted to check out more books until the overdue materials are returned, renewed, or paid for.

Magazines

New magazines do not circulate from the media center. Back issues of magazines are for check out. We welcome suggestions as to which magazines you would like to read.

Newspapers

We receive local newspapers daily. Students are encouraged to read them. We will photocopy an article from today's newspaper. Students can cut articles from back issues. Students can also access newspapers electronically from the computers.

Research Learning Hub

The computer network in the media center provides 12 student workstations. We welcome you to use them for your research and educational needs. Feel free to ask for help. A scanner is available at one workstation.

Copier

A copier is available for student to receive copies. Students are limited to a specific number of pages and time and needs of other students should be considered.

Passes

Passes are required in the SAB before and during school. Passes are needed in the SAB after school if a student wishes to use a Media Center computer.

Lunch

All students are welcome to come to the media center after eating their lunch in the cafeteria. Special Lunch Bunch passes can be obtained during the lunch periods. Students are welcome to select books, read, do homework, or do research. If the Media Center is full students will be asked to return to the cafeteria.

Responsibilities

Students should be doing something productive and doing it in a way that allows others to be productive. Be respectful of others' persons and property.

Recommendations

Students and staff are encouraged to recommend titles of books and magazines. Submit your recommendations to a Media Center staff member.
