Upon Completion of the Instrumental Music Program, students will be able to:
1. Follow rehearsal procedures as outlined in this handbook.
2. Meet all performance obligations as listed on the calendar.
3. Demonstrate performance competencies in the following areas:
Tone- Will demonstrate a tone characteristic of their instrument.
Ensemble- Will demonstrate the ability to play with an ensemble and
follow the director
Intonation- Will demonstrate an understanding of intonation and be able to
adjust accordingly to blend with an ensemble.
Technique- Will demonstrate an ability to control their instrument with
respect to tone, range, dexterity, endurance and flexibility through
the use of developmental exercises.
Style- Will demonstrate a sensitivity and understanding of music of
different styles with respect to phrasing, dynamics and
articulations
Creativity- Will demonstrate the ability to shape and interpret music reflecting
individual style and preference
Skills- Will demonstrate the ability to count rhythms in multiple meters using a consistent method of subdidvision.
Will demonstrate the ability to perform scales as indicated by the director.
