Academy of Teacher Education - 90 Hour Certification

The 90 Clock Hour Certification is issued by the Maryland State Department of Human Resources. This certification prepares the student for a senior staff position at a pre-school or center under the State of Maryland Childcare Center Regulations. In addition, the student will receive training and experiences that provides them with the skills and knowledge needed to enter the University System of Maryland.


Program Requirements
  • Students must commit to the 90 Clock Hour Certification before the completions of Child and Adolescent Development 1.
  • Students must maintain a "B" average or better in Child and Adolescent Development classes.
  • Students must maintain eligibility according to Montgomery County Public School's standards (2.0 GPA).
  • Students must maintain 90% attendance.
  • Students must complete and document make-up work relating to the 90 Clock Hour Certification in a timely manner.
  • Students must maintain an ongoing portfolio to document completion for the 90 Clock Hours Certification requirements (Child and Adolescent Development 1 and 2).
