The National Honors Society wishes to encourage student involvement within Sherwood High School and the community through the enhancement of academic success among all students, service within Sherwood and the community and the development of character and growth in leadership.
An often misunderstood notion is that students automatically qualify for membership based on grades alone. While grades are used as one of the requirements, students must also demonstrate leadership ability.
1. Scholarship: A cumulative grade point average of: 3.7 unweighted or 4.0 weighted. Note the cumulative grade point average is found on the students transcript.
2. Leadership: Evidence of leadership positions and recommendations from an advisor
3. Service: Evidence of community service and participation in extracurricular activities
4. Character: Evidence of good character and at least four recommendations from faculty.
