Sherwood Academy of Business and Hospitality

Students in the Business Academy learn how to develop and run a business by learning and applying industry standard business and accounting procedures. Hospitality Management focuses on preparing students to learn the skills necessary to be successful in the culinary industry. The Academy of Hospitality and Tourism program focuses on learning about the various business elements of the hospitality and tourism industry. These pathways provide students a solid foundation to enter college business and hospitality programs a step ahead of their peers.

Pathway: Business Administration and Management (*CTE Program)

A: One credit of the following required courses.:

  • Software Applications by Design A/B
  • International Business  (.5)  Financial Management (.5)
  • Business Mathematics A/B

B: Required Courses:

  • Entrepreneurship and Business Management 1 A/B
  • Accounting A/B

C: Capstone:

  • Business/Finance Internship A/B -OR- Business Administration Guided Research A/B

Pathway Electives:

  • Entrepreneurship and Business Management 2 (.5)
  • Honors Advanced Accounting A/B - CLEP(equivalent of AP) exam offered

Pathway: Accounting (*CTE Program)

A: Required Courses:

  • Accounting A/B
  • Honors Advanced Accounting A/B CLEP exam offered
  • Entrepreneurship and Business Management 1 A/B

B: Capstone: One credit of the following required courses:

  • Internship, Business/Finance A/B -OR- AP Macroeconomics, AP Microeconomics -OR-  Business/Finance Guided Research

Pathway: Hospitality Management (*CTE Program)

A: Required courses:

  • International Cultures and Cuisines A/B  (ProStart 1)
  • Culinary Essentials A/B (ProStart 2)

B:  Capstone:  2 credits

  • Hospitality Management Internship - You must take 2 credits of a paid internship for  ProStart certification and program completion.

Recommended Elective:   Food Trends with Technology A/B

Pathway: Academy of Hospitality and Tourism (*CTE Program)

  • Foundations of Hospitality and Tourism A/B
  • Travel Geography for Academy of Hospitality and Tourism
  • Academy of Hospitality and Tourism Internship – Must take at least 1 credit

B: Capstone - One of the following courses:

  • Entrepreneurship and Business Management
  • International Cultures and Cuisines A/B (ProStart)
