What is the Eagles Bulletin?
The Eagles Bulletin, lauched February 2003 as a collaboration and joint project of the SVHS Administration and PTSA, is an email service (sometimes called a "listserve" or "email group")
Parents, students, staff, and other interested persons in the SVHS community subscribe to the service to receive information about SVHS through email. The service is provided free by Yahoo! and is supported by advertising
What information is provided on the Eagles Bulletin?
- Daily PA announcements
- Information too lengthy for daily PA announcements
- Athletic schedule changes and tournaments
- Emergency, safety and security announcements
- SVHS club/committee announcements
- Relevant MCPS announcements
- Other school-wide news of interest to parents or students that is not included above
Why should I subscribe to the Eagles Bulletin?
Parents appreciate the convenient way to stay informed about activities and opportunities for students. The Eagles Bulletin supplements the SVHS website by providing important date-sensitive notices that are sent directly to you through email messages. It's free!
Research shows that students who have "connected" parents achieve more & enjoy school more.
Students like to subscribe because they can read the morning announcements if they miss them in class.
Is the Eagles Bulletin a discussion group?
No. The Eagles Bulletin provides one-way information and is not an open forum or interactive email discussion group. Information posted is monitored by SVHS staff.
How do I subscribe to the Eagles Bulletin?
Send a blank email to EaglesBulletinfirstname.lastname@example.org. When you receive a confirmation message from Yahoo! just "reply" and "send" and your subscription will be complete
What do I do if I'm not receiving messages from the Eagles Bulletin?
First, make sure that when you subscribe, you reply to the confirmation message. Next, check that your email provider at home or at work is not blocking Yahoo! mail or sending it to a junk folder. Lastly, make sure your email inbox is not full, which may cause the messages to "bounce."
Can I go to a website to get Eagles Bulletin information instead of getting emails?
For your convenience, you may access notices from the school's website by clicking the Announcements tab near the top of the homepage.
You also have the option to access notices from http://groups.yahoo.com/group/EaglesBulletin. To exercise that option, you need to create an ID and password at that site.
