What is Blackboard?

Blackboard is an online course management system used by some teachers and students at Seneca Valley. If a teacher is using Blackboard for a course, he/she will inform the class.

How is Blackboard Used?

Some of the specific ways teachers can use Blackboard are:

• Announce tests and assignment due dates
• Distribute class notes
• Send email to their courses
• Receive assignments, through the digital drop box
• Manage online tests, self-tests and surveys
• Conduct online discussion
• Enable online group work
• Track students' progress in the course
• Tell students their grades on assignments

At Seneca Valley the Pinnacle/Edline program, rather than Blackboard, is used to report students' grades.

How Students Log Into Blackboard

• Go to:  https://blackboard.mcpsmd.org/
• Login
     Username: Year of Graduation+Student ID#
     Password: Student ID#
• Under "Courses," click on the applicable courses.
