SENECA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL
In 2003, Seneca Valley High School embarked on an exciting journey to redesign its academic program around Career Academies. Since then, we have received national and international recognition for our wall-to-wall program which enables students to focus on post-secondary decisions and future career aspirations. Over 90% of our Academy graduates are accepted to college and over three quarters of those students pursue their academy focus in college. Our five Career Academies include Arts and Media Studies, Business and Finance, Human Services, Science, and Technology which also contains the National Academy of Information Technology. Students select an Academy in an area where they have the greatest interests. To receive an Academy credential, a student must not only satisfy State of Maryland requirements but also complete 4–6 courses in his/her Academy, culminating in a capstone project. The capstone can be an internship, college course, research project or a creative project. Become an Academy Foundation Partner Our partnerships with professional companies and organizations support the primary mission of the Seneca Valley Career Academies program, which is to link coursework with college and career aspirations.
