In accordance with MCPS Regulation IGT-RA, User Responsibilities for Computer Systems, Electronic Information, and Network Security, which states that "all student use of MCPS e-mail must be authorized for purposes of supporting or facilitating the learning process," students may access personal e-mail accounts at school if the following conditions are met:
- the use of a personal e-mail account is for educational purposes AND
- the student has received permission to access personal e-mail from a staff member
Students remain prohibited from using unauthorized e-mail, instant messaging, chat rooms, and social network sites.
Inappropriate computer and network use may result in termination of network privileges, disciplinary actions, and/or other actions deemed appropriate, including legal action.
