Dear Potential Volunteers,
Carl Sandburg welcomes volunteers and values their contribution. Here is a list of some volunteer activities that can be of great benefit to our program.
Support the instructional program
o Prepare instructional materials ( cutting, pasting, photocopying, etc)
o Prepare picture symbol pieces ( cut, paste, prepare for lamination, attach Velcro buttons)
o Participate on Instructional Council as a parent representative
o Provide support in the classroom
Help out at special events
o Collate materials for New Parent Orientation and assemble into packets
o ACES Day (Field Day)
o Arts in Action Night
o Family Fun Nights
o Fundraisers
o Help plan and setup for 5th grade graduation ceremony in June
Technology / Media Support (We will train volunteers with computer skills to use specialized and other software.)
o Use specialized software to create social stories
o Use specialized software to create picture symbol support items
o Student Directory help ( input data; create pages of the needed information; make copies and bind into booklets; distribute to classrooms)
o Student Yearbook help ( take pictures; create page layouts; set up final pages; copy; bind booklets; distribute to classrooms)

As a volunteer working in Montgomery County Public Schools, I agree to …..
- Attend a volunteer training session (if applicable).
- Follow all school rules and Board of Education policies and regulations that are applicable.
- Honor the commitment to volunteer as scheduled.
- Sign in and out in the school’s main office.
- Keep school and student information confidential.
- Notify the school in advance if I must be absent.
