Homework Policy

Homework is one of the many activities in our students’ total school life. It reinforces and extends practice of skills and concepts addressed instructionally. Homework is designed to collect evidence of student understanding and application of what has been taught. Students are responsible for completing their homework in a timely manner. Homework also promotes positive habits of learning in our students.

The Rosemary Hills Staff recognizes the importance of time for family, learning and growing. Children also need time to participate in child-oriented activities that are fun and educational.

Well-designed homework assignments involve the following principles:

The amount, frequency and difficulty of homework is flexible. Students and parents work together in setting time limits. Setting a specific time and place for homework will assist your child in developing positive, life long learning skills. The maximum times are:

In addition, children should be read to or read independently for at least fifteen minutes a night. Also, if incomplete classwork becomes homework, that work does not fall under the maximum time guidelines.
